NEW WORKS, RESIDENCY AND MASTER CLASSES

NEW WORKS AT THE FESTIVAL

Imagine for a moment the extraordinary effects Yan Maresz creates by bringing together the world of the modern violin (the soloist) and that of early string instruments (the orchestra). And when Gérard Pesson showcases the accordion, this simple “dance instrument” transforms into a veritable sonic chameleon.

GÉRARD PESSON, A COMPOSER IN RESIDENCE

Like Proust, Gérard Pesson constantly invents worlds – sparkling and virtuoso sound worlds, yes, but also story worlds, since he is always writing pieces that are portraits of those around him. Gérard Pesson likes people who listen to him and he confides in them with his music.

Gérard Pesson, composition

Gérard Pesson is one of the most eminent and prolific French composers of our time. He has recently published a pedagogical work, Musica Ficta. This collection is a kind of progressive method, in the manner of Béla Bartók, intended to help young pianists of 1st and 2nd conservatory-cycle level understand contemporary musical languages.
Student pianists will have the opportunity to participate in a special master class.
