This CD brings together thirteen short pieces that have only their three-minute duration in common. All the composers conformed to this egalitarian rule of miniaturization and examined their style, to try and give their compositions a “representative” form. What could be harder than to summarize one’s art in the space of so few notes? The result is a delightful and surprising kaleidoscope, by artists who all have a bond of affection with the Festival du Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo – a family portrait, one might say.
