In partnership with the Sergei Parajanov Museum, in Yerevan, this exhibition pays tribute, throughout the festival, to the Armenian filmmaker. Banned from making films by the Soviet authorities, after the scandals provoked by his films in the 1960s (Horses of Fire, Kiev Frescos and Sayat Nova), this poet of the image turned to collage, which he saw as a way of making “condensed movies.” The exhibition offers a selection from the hundreds of collages, assemblages and film sketches now preserved in the house-museum that Parajanov had just enough time to visit before his death, in 1990.
