the 2023 edition

The Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo festival took place from 8 march to 2 april 2023.

The program entitled “ma fin est mon commencement : opus 2” once again addressed the question of stylistic evolution among composers such as Gabriel Fauré, Alexandre Scriabine, Franz Schubert and Felix Mendelssohn.

This edition devoted carte blanche to Michel Dalberto through the immense piano corpus of Franz Schubert and to the Diotima Quartet which brought together the two Hungarian composers Béla Bartók and György Ligeti.

American music has been honored in its aesthetic diversity, from Charles Ives to Steve Reich to a tribute to jazz trumpeter Chet Baker. Ensembles as prestigious as the BBC Orchestra or the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra have performed at the festival.

The painting of Robert Guinan, the poetry of Anna Akhmatova and Maya Angelou, the texts of Pierre Michon, the cinema of Man Ray have interacted with the most diverse sound universes.
