Relive

the 2025 edition

The 41st edition of the Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo took place from 2nd March to 27th April 27 2025 in 17 venues in Monaco and Nice.

Entitled Dérives, this edition celebrated the centenary of Pierre Boulez through a program tracing his career as composer, conductor, director of institutions but also his artistic friendships, especially with Francis Bacon, whose works illuminated the festival with the support of the Francis Bacon MB Art Foundation and its president, Majid Boustany.

Richard Wagner, Anton Bruckner, Maurice Ravel, but also Arnold Schönberg and his disciples, and, closer to us, Philippe Hurel, Philippe Manoury or Péter Eötvös: in total 46 composers were performed by more than 400 artists.

Around the 25 concerts organized by the festival, projections and performances related to the great master’s passion for theater, poetry and dance completed this tribute with the creation of a piece inspired by Arnold Schönberg’s The Transfigured Night, choreographed by Marco Goecke and performed by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

White cards were given to the Akilone Quartet, the pianist François-Frédéric Guy and the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pascal Rophé, as well as the jazzman Hervé Sellin.

Meetings, conferences and round tables bringing together composers and musicologists have made it possible to better understand the powerful and endearing personality of one of the major figures of 20th and 21st century music that will have profoundly marked the history of all arts.
