CONCERT – SECOND VIENNESE SCHOOL
The intimate chamber music of the three Viennese composers was a veritable laboratory for their modernism. Rejecting the pathos, virtuosity and striving for effect that was attracting ever-larger audiences to Vienna’s big concert halls, Schoenberg, Berg and Webern paved the way for a new style, in the capital’s salons. The soloists of the Ensemble intercontemporain are marvelous exponents of these finely-honed, forward-looking miniatures.
