FRIDAY APRIL 3

FRENCH MUSIC OF THE EARLY 20th CENTURY

8.30PM – OPÉRA GARNIER

Coming to France from America at a very young age, Nicholas Angelich was a disciple of Aldo Ciccolini at the Paris Conservatoire. From him, he learned subtle French colors. Debussy’s Préludes are like paintings, the titles of which are only given at the end, as though to continue the dream. Ravel is driven by movement – that of slow or fast waltzes. As the music spins, so its intoxication mounts.
